I really enjoy the audacity in artists today to utilize very creative visuals to entice their audience while simultaneously using unique twists and methods to stand out. We've seen numerous big names following the trend, but today we are introduced to Cape Lion, a Stockholm original act comprised of producers/song writers Carl-Johan Sevedag and Martin Wiklund who just released a video for their live attic session of "Brother" via Sneak Attack.
The video centers in on the two and their instruments surrounded by a foggy darkness, beautifully shot in the attic above the studio space where they record in Sweden. Immediately as the first drum kick hits, you're sucked into the eerie surrounding, focused in on the beat. Then the synth melody slowly rolls in and illuminates the track, gradually evolving into a poppy riff in tune with catchy hooks.
Cape Lion in addition announced the release of an EP this spring, giving me another name to add to my list of artists to watch. Their sound is strikingly similar to that of Toro y Moi with a touch of intensity. Check out their live attic session in the video and see more tracks on their Soundcloud.
