There are few songs that can be remixed countless times yet still keep a life and appeal about them that leaves the listener salivating for more. One of those tracks is “Latch” from the electric British duo Disclosure. This track has been given the hip-hop treatment from DJ Premier, a delightful dubstep distortion from Manic Focus, and a clubbed out funk vibe from T. Williams. Now stepping up to the decks is a new elusive producer from Montreal, Canada called Silverback.
Silverback is the new project of a well known producer with releases across various large labels. Keeping his identity secret, Silverback let’s the ferocity of the gorilla resonate through his modern take on the dubstep sound. Though to some dubstep may be dead, Silverback has managed to breathe a fresh breath in to the genre, reinventing the conventional dub sound with his own infusion of dubstep and trap. His remix of “Latch” packs the punch of the primate species on the decks – high strung snare hits, crunchy synths, and thumping bass lines ignite the bones in to fits of animalistic dance. As his inagural release, Silverback is offering this track as a free download. Stay tuned because this gorilla’s going bananas.
