Tycho releases new single "Montana"

San Francisco-based producer and artist Scott Hansen, under the alias Tycho, is setting up to release his fourth full-length album and second on art-label Ghostly International. “Montana” comes as a new single from Awake, which is now available for preorder from the Ghostly store.

Formerly a solo project and now a three-piece band, “Montana” does a better job of reflecting the addition of Zac Brown (guitars/bass) and Rory O’Connor (drums) to Tycho. They toured Dive extensively and Hansen wanted to capture the energy and driven sound of the live show for the new album. The change wasn't as obvious a few months back with the album’s title track, but the guitars and drums seem more alive in “Montana.”

The art design and blog world knows Scott Hansen as ISO50, recognizing him for his warm and textured style. That same signature carries though into his musical ventures, only in the form of layered synths set with crisp percussion. At this point, the new album is shaping up beautifully. Look for it in March and check out the dates for Tycho's upcoming tour.
