Within the realm of big-room artists, Jewelz & Scott Sparks were certainly a breakout act in 2013. Even though their faces may not be as recognizable as some of the current main stage superstars, their tracks boast a long repertoire of supporters, notably Fedde Le Grand, Porter Robinson, and Chuckie. They feature a thundering tribal drum in signature tracks such as "White Sun", "Hot Rod", and "Toxic Rush", a noticeably different stripped-down approach than the distorted kick heard so frequently these days.
The German duo's latest release comes via Hardwell's Revealed Recordings, blending the melody of progressive house with the power of a festival track. Surging synths get juxtaposed next to a massive drum line, bridging the gap between mid-section and drop that is far often too disjointed. With contributions from popular dance vocalist Quilla, this is a solid all-around package and a strong start to 2014 for all parties involved.
