I first caught wind of Ape Drums back a few months ago via RL Grime’s jam-packed Halloween Mix, where the monstrous bass of “Worl’ Boss” fit in nicely between trap and hip-hop selections. With a gritty dancehall mid-section, it’s no wonder it managed to slide it’s way in to the sets of Dillon Francis and DJ SNAKE as well. The Houston-based producer drives a sound similar to the Jamaican dance fusion that Major Lazer champions, and is now back with a freebie just in time for the holidays.
Cruising along at a steady 110 BPM, “Wine Yuh Back” packs a dangerous bass punch and a elephant trunk of a synth line. With Suku adding some deep vocals, it’s a chant worthy combination that would annihilate a big room system. Head over to Ape Drums’ Soundcloud page for the free download.
