On your first listen of “Power” by indie-funk pop group Pompeya, you would think they dwell in the brownstone-riddled land of Brooklyn or some similarly hip US city. Believe it or not, this funky bunch is actually from mother Russia, hailing from the city of Moscow. Pompeya pulls inspiration from groovy '70s disco and funky '80s new wave and ignites the two with a heavy dose of '90s indie rock. Blending the three genres creates a sound that is all their own, perfectly displayed in their single "Power".

"Power" is the first track off the forthcoming debut album Tropical, set for release on October 29 through Brooklyn label No Shame Records. "Power" is one of many dance-y indie-rock-laced tracks that beckons us to get up and shake our asses 'till our legs fall off. If you were to throw Earth, Wind & Fire and Grizzly Bear into a blender and blend on high, the final product would be Pompeya. Can’t quite wrap your head around the earth-shattering combination? Check it out for yourself and be sure to grab a preorder of their upcoming release Tropical over here!
