You heard it hear first: it might technically be Fall, but our ears are going to be tuned into DC songstress Young Summer year-round.
Born Bobbie Allen, this fierce female found her voice through collaboration with artists /friends Trent Dabbs and Jeremy Bose. And with a moniker acting as a shield of protection for her to freely produce/fully perfect her sound, Young Summer was born.
She's snuck onto the scene and carved out a place for herself among other synth-pop princesses like BANKS and Lorde, and with solid remixes from backstroke further elevating her sound– we’re thinking she’s definitely sticking around. In “Waves That Rolled You Under,” Bobbie's impassioned, haunting alto lends itself to alluring hooks and backstroke's baby drops make the song the perfect dubstep-light track for our Monday.
Young Summer is playing a CMJ showcase on October 16, so if you’re NYC-local check her out, if not, no worries – you can keep tabs via the social links below.
