In a world where we embrace instant gratification, it’s nice to wait for something worthwhile every so often. After many months of anticipation, Arcade Fire has resurfaced with their new single “Reflektor.” They also took the liberty of creating two different music videos to accompany the release of their latest tune. Vincent Morisset directed the first video. His vision gives viewers an interactive experience by seeing self-reflections on the screen of the device they watch the video on. The second video was directed by Anton Corbijn, which is a more traditional music video, but no less creative.
“Reflektor” was produced by LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy who infused some of his electronic/dance style with the Canadian rockers to create a new age disco anthem. There is even a brief appearance by David Bowie, who supplies some background vocals on the track. “Reflektor” showcases a slightly new sound for Arcade Fire, but they stay true to form in making consistently solid music with a message. Arcade Fire’s album also titled Reflektor is out October 29th. But, if you can’t wait until then, expect them to make a special appearance on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest on September 28th.
