After releasing the single “I Can Hardly Make You Mine” from their soon to be released sophomore album Static, Cults releases the track “High Road.” The NYC based musical dyad, show their mellow side on their newest release. It’s a haunting and melodically beautiful tune that is sonically accessible for indie pop-rock listeners. The ambience from the organ and strings in the background set the stage for singer Madeline Follin’s fetching vocals. The moving bass-line and guitar strumming assist the track as it glides along.
From what we’ve heard on “I Can Hardly Make You Mine” and “High Road”, Cults is staying true to their signature sound. This should be good news for fans of the rock duo. Cults will release Static on October 15th through their label Columbia Records. Until then, zone out to their latest offspring.
