Misty Miller’s latest track has inspired us to create a new portmanteau today: rockstress. Because just when it seems that female artists are all sounding so, well, femme – this 19-year-old hailing from the UK is giving indie-rock a fierce facelift and songstresses like Grace Potter a little friendly competition. “Taxicab” is a garage band line-dance with a dash of The White Stripes and pinch of Patti Smith. The rockabilly guitar alongside her high-energy voice is a toe-tapping good time, and we’re feeling like classic rock is revived and well. Misty has recently been on tour with Jake Bugg & Tom Odell and is ramping up for shows with the Eels, but if you can’t experience the jamboree in person – you can at least listen in below or download her EP Next To You (out now on Relentless Records).
