Overnight success is rare, and Liverpool-based house DJ and producer Friend Within is the exception to the rule, which is a happy ending after years of trial and error. He is a music industry fairytale, and with releases on Dirtybird Records and Pets Recordings has exploded on the UK electronic scene in a matter of months. So this is what we’d call “blowing up,” as Friend Within seemingly apparated into industry circles, producing high-quality, and hard to pigeonhole remixes of their music. His “The Renegade (Special Request Murder Remix)” is a teaser for “The Renegade EP,” which will be released in October on electronic duo Disclosure’s own Method Records. Here, Friend Within has created an up-tempo dance floor slayer, which provides a perfect amount of hype for the EP itself. Earlier this year, Disclosure predicted, “Friend Within is going to have a very good 2013.” Thus far, we’d say so.
