NYC crooner Ro James has quite a sensual cut on his hands in the Asher Roth-assisted single, "Lisa," which features rather suggestive artwork of Lisa Bonet (of The Cosby Show fame). Though Asher isn't typically known as a savant of seduction, he kills it here, rolling syllables over the smooth baseline. This is still Ro James' show, however, and he turns in a stirring performance channeling the R&B of the past. A comparison to Prince feels necessary; though James has quite a ways to go before truly warranting that association, he possesses a similarly full-balanced, measured quality to his voice and an equally raunchy quality to his music–at least in this case. "She aint take that dick like you do," James assures, as the record successfully conveys primal attraction. Listen to the Blended Babies produced cut below, and be on the look out for the second installment of Ro James' Coke, Jake, & Cadillacs series, Jack, due out August 19th.
