What I love most about The Knocks is their ability to fully own their take on multiple different movements that are taking place in different hubs of the music industry. The last time I saw them perform a DJ set in New York City, I was surprised to see a housier, heavier tone to what I was used to hearing from B-Roc and JPatt, but it was like they’d been doing it all along. Today they’ve returned to the production style I learned to quickly love them for with a poppier, nu disco remix of Asaf Avidan’s “One Day.” With an overarching laidback rhythm but carefree, smiling piano chords, this track that’s out for free download on Soundcloud is a great way to start August.
