Over the past month we've had a great time running our biggest opening set contest ever with Escapade Music Festival. Last week we narrowed the 140+ entries down to a collection of finalists, and it's now time to announce the winner of the contest!
Without further ado, the winner of the 2013 Escapade Music Festival Opening Set Competition: Jose Regalado!
Jose's mix was an eclectic collection of great tracks that fit the vibe of a festival opening set perfectly. He included a number of original bootlegs and interesting remixes, transitioning well from an opening groove to a more banging finale. Find his biography as well as his mix below. Thanks to all of the contestants who entered and to all of the fans and friends who cast their vote and played a part in the process.

Biography: Jose Regalado was born in Mexico City on June 6th 1991 and was raised by his amazing grandmother and mother due to the early death of his dad when he was 5. His first ever contact with the world of DJing was at the tender age of 12 when he first witnessed a DJ play at his aunt's birthday party, and instantly knew that he'd found his passion He travelled to Canada in 2007 and became increasingly drawn to electronic music while Djing in the growing Ottawa scene. His opening set at the Escapade Music festival is another major milestone in Jose's young but promising career.
