Acclaimed DJ Mia Moretti and crazy talented violinist Margot, also known as Caitlin Moe, have combined their talents yet again to take the pop world by storm as pop duo The Dolls. Identified as the "It-Girl DJ" by The New York Times, Moretti has played countless events in New York, spinning for fashion houses like Rebecca Minkoff, popular clubs such as Le Bain at The Standard, and invited guests at Chelsea Clinton's wedding. Moe is equally talented, having toured as the featured electric violinist with rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Moe and Moretti have frequently played together over the years, so it comes as no shock to learn they've formally joined forces.
"Summer of '93" serves as The Dolls' first single, and it's a nostalgia-soaked track about lost love. Featuring beautiful piano and violin instrumentation with glitchy synths, "Summer of '93" is a cool change-up from the endless anthemic indie-pop summer tunes that have surfaced recently. And just when you've thought it couldn't get better, we're premiering this massive future bass remix by New York producer Samuel, perfect for party playlists. Samuel manages to shift the song to a more upbeat, heavy-hitting vibe while maintaining that original, nostalgic feeling – beautifully done with a few pockets he's left for Moe's violin over those infectious drums and claps. If you're in New York City this Saturday (June 22), check out The Dolls' set at Full Moon on Governor's Island, where they will be playing alongside Cyril Hahn, Miami Horror, HAERTS and more.
