Emerging Artist Series: Kindergarten Records A&R Roundup

Last week we launched our partnership with Kindergarten Recordings.  It's a new and interactive way to submit your tracks to their label, fixing a system that's been broken since aspiring artists used to stalk A&Rs in the chance to get them to listen to a demo CD.   You submit your track to a chart where you get your fans to then vote on your song to help it climb up the chart — just like you do in the real world with hypem or other similar places you want to trend. This way the A&R gets the crowd to help him out.  Even if you don't get a full release, Kindergarten and Earmilk will be featuring artists from the charts as part of our emerging artists series — so if you hit the top 10 you're guaranteed exposure!  As a whole the submission chart has been going extremely well, with the top tracks receiving over 2000 plays and well over a hundred hearts. Find the top 10 of the chart listed below, along with a few special tracks that we've picked out to highlight. The full chart is embedded at the bottom of the page – scroll through, give it a listen and make sure to heart your favourite tracks so that these aspiring artists have a shot at being released on Kindergarten! This is an ongoing campaign, so keep submitting your tracks to our microsite HERE and vote away.

Our Features:

#5 – 'Pump the Beat' by Smash Nasty is a nice blend of a progressive, melodic build-up before dropping into a punishing electro-house drop. Definitely in tune to the Kindergarten sound, this track stood out for us when going through the charts. Watch for the cool, high-pitched synth programming as well as a great melodic, key-driven breakdown before the second drop.

#9 – 'Wolfpup' is another heavy-hitting track that reminds us of the club anthem 'Big Bad Wolf,' mostly through the use of a very similar sample. Great work on the lead synth here from Alarmin, before he uses a creative fill and ushers in a huge electro drop. This is a testament to the more electro-driven Kindergarten artists like Popeska or Charlie Darker.

#12 – 'Broken Rules' by Distantt has a housier feel to it, with uplifting progressive melodies and another creative fill. With a touch of glitch, Distantt layers the track extremely well, to provide listeners with a sense of variety and originality. The breakdown is another key-based wonder, each note reverberating well, before the return of the lead synth to bring you back to the basics of the everlasting banger – the drop.
