Fresh off their appearance at Governor’s Ball in New York and headed into their upcoming performance at the four-day indiefest known as Bonnaroo, the Aussie foursome known as The Rubens continue to make waves stateside. Their March EP, My Gun, brought a 4-track introduction to the group, comprised of the three Margin brothers and childhood friend Scott Baldwin. “Lay It Down” and “My Gun”, the more downtempo of the offering, grabbed the most attention, the latter of which we are featuring today as a remix by DJ duo Twice As Nice.
Also hailing from Australia, the two (Unkown and Lewis One) have taken “My Gun” and turned it into an homage to indie dance lovers. Melodic riffs carry through Sam Margin’s distorted vocals, all floating over a shifting river of synth and alternating snare beats. It’s music that you’re made to revel in, when bad decisions blur with unforgettable memories.
