Miguel – "Do You…" (Cashmere Cat Remix)

In a remix that combines two trending artists that are often associated with drastically different genres, Cashmere Cat amplifies Miguel's "Do You…" into a high-powered and rhythmic electronic anthem. As this remix and other recent collaborations go to show, music is heading in a direction where nearly every popularized style can be morphed together to form a unique sound, whether it is for better, or worse. Thankfully in the case of the "Do You…" remix, blending Miguel's emotional vocals with Cashmere Cat's experimental electronic background pays off.

Shifting the electronic basics of synth stabs and arpeggiated melodies into trap-like rhythmic work is not an easy task, but Cashmere Cat accomplishes the feat using energetic bass, shifting claps and heavy high hats at the high end that give the original laid back R&B balled a kick in a new direction. While Miguel's lyrics "Do You Like Drugs? — Well, me too" are chanted through the songs opening, once the impending drop is narrowed in on the verse is broken up and used to set up and power through the heavy electronic break.

When thinking back to Cashmere Cat's previous work (his most recent full release is the EP Mirror Maru) it is evident that Magnus August Høiberg, aka Cashmere Cat/DJ Final, has an appreciation for R&B, as he tends to focus on its raw emotion throughout practically every song he puts out. Let's hope that he continues this trend in the future, as his music benefits from the energy and it could lead to a proper collaboration between the Oslo DJ and Miguel in the future.
