Keys n Krates – BBC Radio 1 Guest Mix for Annie Nightingale [Exclusive]

I have recently fallen in love with the Toronto-based threesome known as Keys n Krates. Providing a sound to be reckoned with, you are already behind if you are not familiar with them. So for those of you looking to be musically forward: take notes. The trio joined forces in 2008 with the desire to create a unique and different sound, their main goal being: take the remix/electronica sound out of the studio and onto the stage.

So who are Keys n Krates? We have Adam Tune on the drums, synth-master David Matisse on keys, and internationally award-winning Jr. Flo on turntables. Together, they've seamlessly found a medium between hip-hop, electronica, and jam. They began by spending hours on end inside a rehearsal room for six months to create and master their unique sound and identity. To put it simply, “Keys N Krates collage raw samples and twist them with live instrumentation, creating a truly unique party sound.”

Today, we premiere their 30-minute mini mix they did for the esteemed Annie Nightingale show on BBC Radio 1. The mix first premiered on February 16 and is a perfect introduction to the group. Rolling through hits like Willy Joy’s “Big Booty” to Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” to their own tracks like “You’re So Good”, their extra dirty remix of “Clique”, and their super dreamy “Lucid Dreams”, this is the perfect addition to your collection.

We also have an extra special behind the scenes video for their “Treat Me Right” track, slated for release on March 5 through Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak imprint. The single first premiered on Annie Mac’s notorious BBC Radio 1 show on February 8. Since its premiere, the fans and critics have been singing their praises, with support from the online world as well as heavy hitters like TNGHT, Diplo, Annie Mac and Salva, who have been dropping the trap-tinged monster in their sets. They will also be giving away an exclusive track for free on Annie Mac's Free Music Monday Blog so be sure to stay tuned into their Facebook page for that announcement!

The year is looking bright for the trio, with a upcoming release for the “So-Lo” EP on Dim Mak, they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, which we should all be thankful for.
