One of the best electronic music events I have ever been to – actually it was quite possibly THE best, even though it was only my second – was Hard Haunted Mansion 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Imagine just starting your venture into electro house, then having a night where 2 Many DJs (aka Soulwax) were spinning “E Talking” when you walked in, Crookers “Thunderstruck” you, and Deadmau5 first dropped “Ghosts ‘N Stuff” before a live audience. Today, ProtoypeRaptor delivers a stunning remix of Soulwax’s “Krack”, taking me back to that fateful Halloween four years ago. The track detours from the Raptor’s usual set of weapons, featuring a slower BPM and smorgasbord of glitch elements. This slightly calmer release may be a little less untz but it is just as packed with flavor, and definitely pays tribute to the original. If we are lucky, this is just a taste of the variety and talent we will be hearing in his new album, which apparently will be released by the end of the year.
