You might recognize San Francisco producer Reilly Steel's name from our premiere of his sweet video for his track "ICU", a visual aid that saw Steel working with Berlin artist Andreas Fischer. In the name of continued collaboration with different types of artists, Steel's latest release is a remix of Matthew Stone's "How Do You Feel?", commissioned by fashion designer Rick Owens for his Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear show. "How Do You Feel?" features vocals from Owens' wife, visual designer Michele Lamy, and rising New York rapper/performance artist Zebra Katz.
It's hard to picture a world where music and fashion don't intersect, with both fields facing the challenge of presenting artistic concepts and complex ideas to a wider audience, always facing the challenge of balancing abstraction with listenability or, in the case of fashion, wearability. There's a constant struggle to resonate with a greater public while retaining your artistic integrity. It's unsurprising that club-friendly music in particular would overlap with fashion; in the most immersive of club scenes, what's permissible to adorn yourself with is hugely representative of what that atmosphere aims to achieve.
