A Quick Word from the Author:

Author ProfileIt's been a wild past few weeks, and sparing the details, I'll have you know the majority of it was grand. That being said, it's good to be back in the saddle yet again, leaving dusty clouds of Indie haze everywhere I pass.

With the return of the Sabbath comes another round of editorial innovation, all aimed at making the Sabbath the most user-friendly and interesting Indie feature on the Web.  New formatting, including downloads of each section with one click, have been implemented. We dropped some sections, extended others and refined it so it wasn't as long and busy as it's predecessors.

Enjoy the tunes, and if you don't have time to sift through them all, just download them. They're certified fresh.

Bees Knees

The Bees Knees

Your life will be much easier now.

These are the creamiest tracks of the week, one each from the three sections. These are here for those who only wish to sip. Yes, I'm looking at you, with your impenetrable ADHD and fascination with with Country Time Lemonade products. You and your inability to listen to more than just a few tracks because you have 1 new Facebook Notification and a Twitter Message.

This is for you, you beautiful, busy bastard.

The Indie Gift Basket

Overview

  • The Pasture covers the basics, from Folk to Rock to Pop, and will now serve as the hub for the tracks perfect for any occasion.
  • The Chicken Dance is a hodge podge of tracks that you could be excused for doing the, err… Chicken Dance to. Although these aren't simply Dance tracks, they're all good to whip your hair around to.
  • Lastly, The Tryptophan is built for those relaxed moments, where you're winding down with the aid of something herbal — or even for a time where you might just want some background atmospherics to doze off to.

Video of the Week

Weekly Round Up

Let's wrap it up, things are getting a bit heavy. Here's the video and album of the week, as well as the freshest Indie from EARMILK over the past seven days.

NOTE: There is no Record of The Week this week, because frankly I thought all of the albums were pretty awful. If you have a recommendation throw it in the comments and I may add it in.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK:

The Neighbourhood – "Female Robbery"

The Neighbourhood are confused. They spell their name like they're European, live in California and their house is upside down. The funny thing is, no one cares, because their music is fantastic. This isn't brand new, it seems to be a re-upped/modded version of the original, but hey. It's still the best video of the week.

MILKY FRESH

The Indie Sabbath isn't the only place you'll find the best new Indie on EAMRILK. We have a wonderful staff of talented writers churning out great tracks everyday. Here's a three track flashback of the best in Indie this week on EARMILK. Take a sip, and enjoy the dishes — these are certified fresh.

WANT MORE INDIE SABBATH?

There's plenty more where this came from. Click the link above to check out the rest, and stay tuned in for more of the best in Indie as well as everything else, right here on EARMILK.

Upon this day, I declare that Indie music is leaps and bounds more pure than anything else, and the term "Indie" means not that a band isn't mainstream, but that a band has been able to hold on to its roots, even through fame and fortune. While the wonderful thumps and womps of other genres get me grooving, it will always be the sui generis of Indie that guides me to the homeland. And for that — I both thank it and applaud it — for it has brought me great pleasure in the past and will so in the future.
