The Kid Daytona is not exactly a household name nor an underground sensation… yet. Coming straight out of the Bronx, Daytona has been making music for a few years now and over the course of his career has released a decent number of mixtapes complete with original production and notable features. In 2010 he released an L-R-G sponsored mixtape, titled The Interlude, which served as my personal introduction to Daytona's music. I'd highly recommend downloading to get familiar with him.
Produced by nVMe, "Cuban With The Jesus Piece" is Daytona's first single that is to be featured his upcoming EP, Summer Games. While there is no release date as of yet, we can expect it to be available soon seeing as it's the appropriate season for such an EP.
Every initial opinion I've heard (including my own) about Daytona is that he sounds like Reasonable Doubt era Jay-Z, from his cool and calm lyrical flow, to his boastful raps and lavish living subject matter. In addition to his new single, fans on the East coast will be able to catch Daytona live on his Summer Games Tour, which gets underway July 17 with a show in NYC.
