After catching the blogosphere totally off guard with their strategic release of a handful of tracks this month, Chicago super-group Cocaine 80s has finally unveiled their latest EP Express OG. The EP is the group's third project. If you've been diligently keeping up with all of Cocaine 80s this month you'll probably be disappointed to discover that five of the EP's six tracks were previously leaked this month.
For those who've been out of the loop during the collective's musical blitzkrieg this month, the EP will be a convenient treat composed of all the tracks previously leaked by the group in the past few weeks. As with the collective's previous two EPs, the group's resident rhymesayer Common makes his customary appearance on the EP.
"Motivation", which is the latest song to be liberated and the EP's closing track, is a mid-tempo cut that pairs Common and James Fauntleroy over piano-driven production from No I.D. The track has a vibe reminiscent of one of Com' strongest LPs Be (2005). Outside of appearances from Common and fellow collective members Makeba Riddick, No I.D. and James Fauntleroy, the EP features one guest spot from Nas on "Chain Glow".
