Some unexpected visuals for "The Gold Is Mine", Oddisee's rework of Metronomy's "We Broke Free" off his Odd Renditions EP have arrived courtesy of the director G.M. for Ce Con De Chat. The fan made video, which features hazy and distorted black-and-white imagery and scrawled excerpts of the song's lyrics, is well executed to say the least.
In addition to the fan made video, Oddisee has released The People's Verdict, a short four-minute clip of a listening experiment conducted by a group of the producer's friends (without his knowledge) with the help of pedestrians on the streets of DC & London. In the vid random strangers on the street openly share their critiques of a preview of Odd's upcoming LP People Hear What They See. Oddisee had this to say about the responses he received:
I was fascinated by the responses given in this video. I'm use to reading reviews of my album by journalist & to be honest… Whether they're good or bad, I rarely agree with them. There was something so refreshing about my work being critiqued by total strangers. People with no agenda, just hearing music from an unknown artist & giving their honest opinion. In today's world, that's a rare thing.
Watch both videos and be sure to mark your calendars for the release of Oddisee's debut LP People Hear What They See, available exclusively June 5 on iTunes and worldwide June 12 via Mellow Music Group.
