For their latest release Chicago-based super group Cocaine 80s, composed of a collection of songwriters, musicians and artists notably No. I.D., Common and James Fauntleroy, break off listeners with a generous helping of music in the form of two soul acoustic songs, "Unchain Me" and "Love3x"The emphasis the collective places on artistry and musicality is a breath of fresh air. Their well crafted tracks, which features lively and often assorted instrumentation offers an alternative to the overproduce R&B tends to saturate airwaves. I doubt I am alone when I say it would be nice to see Common take on a more active role in the group (check out "Summer Madness").
It should come as welcomed news that "Unchain Me" and "Love3x", along with several other previously leaked songs, will appear on the collective's forthcoming Express OG EP. Until then, enjoy the double dose of new music from No I.D. and the gang.
