Todd Edwards is a veritable house and garage music legend, although his name may not garner immediate recognition from the younger generation (a generation among which I count myself). Suddenly, he's popping up all over my life, with a nod from Salva in our recent interview and an appearance at Boston's Together festival. He's been working since 1992, and he's rubbed shoulders with the likes of Daft Punk, Justice, and many more, although his own sound is quite a bit different from theirs.
Edwards' latest EP, Shall Go, was released March 13 on Body High, a fresh label from LOL Boys and Samo Sound Boy. Below are two cuts from the EP: "This Generation," an anthem with rolling snares and bells, and "Hold the Faith," an uplifting, funky house hymnal. It's great to see an old-school hero who can adapt to the times; notably, while many of his releases are only available on rare vinyl, this entire EP is up for stream on his Soundcloud. Listening to this EP is like taking a shot of pure hope and positivity without so much as a hint of cheesiness.
