I'm not usually one for upbeat music. Put me in most situations and I'll be grinning from ear to ear, but I need dark beats to balance out my generally cheery demeanor. However, there are occasions when innocent, cheerful music hits the spot, and I can always depend on RAC (acronym for Remix Artist Collective, comprised musically of Andre Allen Anjos, Andrew Maury, and Karl Kling, with Andre and Karl being the touring/DJ duo) to fulfill my happiest dreams. RAC is not your average group of remixers; they'd probably scoff (good-naturedly) if they were booked for a "dubstep" night, and while their remixes are danceable, they're not heavy electro put over a song; instead, RAC takes the existing elements of a song and tweaks them to renewed perfection. I don't think I've ever heard a remix by them that I didn't like, and they're pretty much the only ones who can make poppy indie (think Phoenix or Foster the People, bands that usually activate my gag reflex) palatable for me. That's some skillz, yo.
Below for stream and download is their Nintendo-glitchy remix of "Waves" by letthemusicplay (described to me in email only as "our mysterious friends"), as well as the original (which is also enjoyable) for comparison's sake.
