Today's delivery is brought to you by Blockhead. This Manhattan producer has been making dope beats since the late 90's and what separates him from many other beatmakers is his truly eclectic palette of used sounds. On the one hand he is known for making amazing hip-hop beats but then he's got another side where he produces downtempo, almost lounge-like beats. This type of background, i'm sure, is what brought him and Ninja Tune together and today's pick actually comes from his first solo album on the label. The album, released in 2004, is called Music by Cavelight and the track I'm bringing to you today is called "Triptych Part 1". This track definitely fits more on the "downtempo" side of things but with a very urban feel. Now, I had to look up what "Triptych" meant and come to find out it means a three-piece showing of artwork where three separate panels are hinged together with a common theme. As you get to the chorus, of today's track, you'll see why the title fits so perfectly as the three vocal samples are weaved together so perfectly. Now, this album is old but you might want to keep a lookout for his upcoming 5th studio album entitled Interludes After Midnight which drops May 5th. But, don't worry, I'll be reminding you. Check out the track and chill….
