SXSW has most certainly dominated the hip hop scene over the last week. Los Angeles, CA – Wake Up is the new collaboration between roots/rock band Uncle Daddy and California native THURZ (pictured). Both acts and will hit the SXSW stage live together for the first time at the DJ Booth Showcase this Saturday (March 17th) at 10:20pm.
On this joint THURZ further showcases his versatility and solidifies his himself as an emcee to be reckoned with. His husky vocals are perfect for the edginess of this track. As well as the instrumentals, Uncle Daddy also lend their voices to Wake Up on the hook. Despite the edge, the track still boasts mainstream appeal. Movie soundtrack appeal methinks… Can't wait to see who is next on the THURZ collabo list!
Uncle Daddy's new album, Good Mourning, will be dropping next month and will include Wake Up along with nine other tracks.
