Southern Fried Presents – Fried & Tested Tracks, Vol. 4

London label Southern Fried Records is showing some of their cherished hospitality by greasing up the dance floor with another set of Fried & Tested Tracks for their fourth installment in their compilation series. Variety has always been the recipe but instead of straying off into droney oblivion each number feels carefully selected to do damage in any peak time set. Which comes to no surprise as the tracklist features Europe's hard hitting house and techno bantams like Italy's party posse Reset! and the sinister Milano duo Magnvm!. This get together of ripening talent has served a great platform for discovering the future's midnight torchbearers but amidst all the fury and flames Parisian duo Donovans and UK camp Filthy Dukes become favourites in my book. Driven by a vigilante of over compressed kicks, "Night of Wrath" stampedes along a safe border between hardstyle and stone throw techno while "Thingabang" sounds like a robotic coal mine that can leave your mood turning black if you choose to fall in.
