Today's delivery is brought to you by Funky DL. Last year we lost a great man/producer when Nujabes passed away. It was especially personal and sad, to most fans, because his music somehow carries so much emotion that you felt an unusual attachment to his music. He was really one of a kind so it was a huge loss for the music world but luckily his music will always live on. Now, he worked with a lot of "underground" hip-hop artists but he obviously always picked ones that had the previously untapped talent and they would always shine with Nujabes production. Today's pick comes from Hip-Hop artist Funky DL who started working with Nujabes on some of his very first projects.
Funky DL is a UK hip-hop artists but you wouldn't really know it, on your first listen, just because he has pretty much gotten rid of his accent. He has just recently released his latest album entitled Blackcurrent Jazz 2 which is chalk full of throw back rhymes peppered on top of some of the jazziest and smoothest best you'll find. The track I'm bringing to you today is appropriately called "Ode To Nujabes" where Funky DL reminiscences how his connection with Nujabes all started. It's a little sad considering but you don't have to take it that way because the instrumental is so upbeat and optimistic. I highly suggest checking out the album if you appreciate jazz-hop. Check out the track and chill….
