SBTRKT – BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

Can I just take a moment to gush over BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix? It's been a while since I've really paid attention to it, but when an artist I care about does one, it's almost invariably wonderful. Two hours seems to be a perfect length of time to push past the expected and get deeper than your typical 30-minutes-to-an-hour long mix. The last two weeks have been pretty fantastic, with last week's mix coming from Modeselektor and this Saturday's mix coming from Earmilk favorite SBTRKT.

This mix is crazy diverse, with an extreme blend of new versus classic, obscure versus major, and a massive range of genres (from future garage, which you'd sort of anticipate from SBTRKT, to hip hop to indie to, well, pretty much everything). The track list is absolutely packed with artists you'll love: Radiohead, Flying Lotus, Blawan, Joy Orbison, Rustie, Mosca, Lone, Pixellord, Pearson Sound, Drake, The Roots, Machine Drum, and many more. Read on for the full tracklist and stream the mix below.
