With a recent debut album out on Young Turks, SBTRKT is riding the Internet buzzwaves right now (you probably know his name if you frequent the blogosphere, even if you can't quite remember the sequence of the letters). Yesterday he released this live track, Up & Down, featuring Sampha, which combines soulful vocals that behave more like an instrument than a lyrical or narrative device and minimal instrumentals building up in the background to supplement Sampha's voice as the pace picks up throughout the song. At first, I was a bit ambivalent about the vocals, but after a few listens, this track has really grown on me. Hopefully it will grow on you too!
