Straight From The Teet – Blue Belt, Σ-Fly, & xxyyxx

There's no exact way of knowing how many songs are released in a day. Whether it be an eighteen second kazoo ditty on Soundcloud, or a Hypem track with 4 hearts, all music deserves a shot. Even on an independent blog like Earmilk, it's impossible to cover every band/song/remix worth listening too. That's why Straight From the Teet is back, and this time…IT'S DAILY! My name is Logan (aka Running) and I will be curating Earmilk's newest old feature, highlighting three up-and-coming artists from three different genres, so sit back and enjoy some good-old-fashioned, non-pasteurized, Earmilk. Drink it fast though, because I'll be coming back tomorrow with more…

Hip-Hop

I recently featured Blue Belt's track "Anymore" on SFTT and am happy to share another track off their upcoming eponymous LP. "E.Y.B." stands for "Eff Yr Blog" (ouch) and it's a great Animal Collective meets Beastie Boys type track, with a shout-along "Fuck Your Blog" chorus. You can find more info on this up-and-coming hip-hop troupe here, and be sure to stay tuned, because their debut release hits the blogosphere July 26.

Electronica

What is up with ambient musicians being such hermits? There is literally no information about Σ-Fly other than what I could find on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. He/she/they recently released the Tides EP via Warminal Records (their website is just a picture with a Soundcloud link), and I'm very impressed by how evocative their music is. Disembodied pianos, hi-hat glitches, and the occasional heavy-handed snare flesh out most of the reverb-heavy soundscape. I'm a sucker for anything that treads on the border between pensive and melodramatic. Happy listening.

Fro-Fi

Marcel Everett is the type of person who makes me feel worthless. This fifteen-year-old produces an off-shoot of chillwave (which he calls "fro-fi") under the moniker xxyyxx, and was recently signed to Relief in Abstract Records. His debut album Still Sound made me grab a thesaurus. It's phantasmic summer hook-up music, substantial and-at the same time-airy. I hope that's vivid enough for your tastes.
