Today's delivery is brought to you by Suzanne Vega. The image above should be pretty familiar to any classic TV fan. This New York restaurant is the one used during all the outdoor shots from the show Seinfeld which is where the "crew" hung out. Well that just a little reference point but really there's a even better reference to this diner that you might not know about. That's where Suzanne Vega comes in. She's a singer/songwriter, born in California, who got her start in the early 80's. The track I'm bringing to you today, "Tom's Diner", was one of the first tracks she recorded and it was done all acapella which just goes to show how truly gifted she is to produce such an infectious track with no instrument accompaniment. The song is a story that takes place at the same restaurant, in New York, that the Seinfeld folks used. Also, this track was used as one of the first reference songs to create the "MP3" compression which is why sometimes the song is referred to as "The mother of the Mp3". Now, I'm positive you've heard the the vocals, from this song, used in tons of remixes that came after it's release but you probably never heard this original version. So, check out the track and chill…..
