First of all, I apologize for missing last week. I know there were many panties in a bunch, horses not withheld and beans that were not cooled. I apologize for the heartache, and I made a point of bringing you the best indie tracks from the past 2 weeks, so make sure you control yourself- this sabbath is gonna probably cause you to make a boner. A mishap that is. Anyway…

First of all, I can't stop listening to "No Love" by the band Hooray For Earth. Which is a perfect band to kick off the sabbath with, because I have never been more pleased with the human race than I have over the past few weeks.

As I mentioned in the previous Sabbath, I've been working down in Joplin, MO at the disaster relief headquarters. Things are going extremely well in the recovery operation, and for the first time in a long time, the human race has left me awestruck. I have never, in my life, seen such a turnout in terms of good will, people ignoring the drive for personal gain and doing whatever they can to help the person next to them- the person in need. I've been working the Homeowner intake counter with one of my good friends for the past week, so I haven't been able to go into the field and work directly with the homes. What I have been able to do is hear some incredible stories.

The other day a man was telling me how at a shelter in Duqesne, 90 year old military veterans were turning down shelter, tears in there eyes, because they knew there were other people that "needed it more than them." This seems to be the theme down here. No matter how great the offer or how awful the recipients situation is, people are turning down donations left and right, because they feel in there heart that other people need it more. It's one of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking things I've ever seen, and I just can't get over it.

I decided to not include any pictures this week, out of respect for the homeowners and of the city itself. If you feel the need to see photos, just picture your own house. Then imagine a giant picking your house up, shaking its contents out for miles, and then slamming it down to the ground, smashing it a few more times, and walking away. Multiply that image by over 6200 (which is about the number of homes here that were completely destroyed) and you might be able to grasp the gravity of the situation.

I also decided to take out the journal entry aspect this week, mainly because most of my entries say the same thing. This is also because when I wrote the last sabbath, I was fresh. I still had that new guy energy, despite working over 80 hours that week. To be quite frank, I'm a bit too tired to get into all that this week. What I can promise you is that I will make the content of the next Sabbath as in depth and descriptive as I can. And besides, I know you're just here for the sick tunes anyway.

P.S. If you're here to read what I write- thanksssss

Lets get real. Any farmer will tell you that some cows make better milk than others. It's science- Some chickens make better eggs, some people make better babies- some cows make better milk. Why waste time sorting through the different manatees of the land when you could have someone else do that for you?

THE LUX GALLONS:

You're welcome. Here's a list of the cattle that proved to be concoctors of the finest Milk Drank these past two weeks, starting with

Agnes Obel – iTunes Live from Paris

Give Me Fire – Mando Diao

Seapony – Go With Me

My Morning Jacket – Circuital

Son Lux – We Are Rising

City and Colour – Little Hell

Battles – Glass Drop (Bonus Track Version)

Cults – Cults

Hooray For Earth – True Loves

The People in the city of Joplin are experiencing and living with a tragedy that is on a scale most of us cannot imagine. If I wasn't so tired from working down here I'd write more, and make my writing a bit sharper- but I don't feel like it. I hope you guys enjoy the music this week. Keep the people of Joplin in your thoughts and prayers. Here are some links below if you're interested in volunteering, donating or just supporting the people in general. Thanks for reading.

Note about the Indie Sabbath:

In August The Indie Sabbath will be back in full gear, bringing you the latest in the great music from the indie music gift basket.

Upon this day, I declare that Indie music is leaps and bounds more pure than anything else, and the Term "Indie" means not that a band isn't mainstream, but that a band has been able to hold on to its roots, even through fame and fortune. While the wonderful thumps and womps of electronic music gets me grooving, It will always be the Alternative Indie Rock that guides me to the homeland. And for that- I both thank it and applaud it- for it has brought me great pleasure in the past and will so in the future.

@INDIE ARTISTS: If you are an INDIE ARTIST and would like for me to promote your music, whether that means on the Sabbath, an artist feature or an interview, email me ronnie@earmilk.com. Include 'Ronnie' in either the title or the opening of the email so that it will be filtered to my indie music section. I will review the content and get back to you as soon as I can.
