There are thousands of popular artists out there today making new singles all the time. With the increase of bedroom producers though, the ability to simply download a whole studio that you can use right on your lap has made original songs more scarce. Now it seems that your finding tens of thousands of remixes by artists with more and more ludicrous names, leaving you wondering "Transexual Viking Sword Bro- what???." This weekly segment will bring you the popular remixes and the never heard of "Transexual Viking Sword Brothers" remixes of a (common) artist's singles. From all these bedroom producers we are seeing one thing, and that is absolutely fantastic, manipulated, warped remixes.
The artist that is being remixed today is Gorillaz. Gorillaz was created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and has been conquering the charts and the heart of many fans for many years. There is 4 virtual characters that the band uses for media that have helped sell their products through underlying messages in all their albums. Their unique soothing vocals by Albarn and the ever ecstatic syth make Gorillaz a superb target for a remix. They are a well needed blend of experimental feel good happy music. The reason I've chosen Gorillaz first is because I don't think I have ever heard a terrible remix of them. Every single one seems to only increase my respect for Gorillaz and their criminally smooth sounds.
POPULAR REMIXES
Here are probably the three most common remixes of Gorillaz that are widely known.
CHILL REMIXES
These are your more 'chill' remixes of Gorillaz, the ones you can really relax to and are nice for any day in the summer. In my opinion these coincide hand in hand with Gorillaz because Gorillaz are already at a level of chill, this just adds another whole level chill. Some next level chill music.
DUBSTEP REMIXES
Of course, it had to be done. I can't have a post of remixes over different genres and not have any dubstep. That's plain silly. Now when I first started looking, to be honest with you readers, I found A LOT of crap. It seems turning Gorillaz into dubstep is easier said than done. The tracks below are defiantly the cream of the crop.
SECRET REMIXES
These are less known remixes that still can kick it. It was hard to pick only a few because there was an infinite amount of 30,000 views and smaller remixes but i've narrowed it down to these three which I feel do justice.
OVERALL FAVOURITE REMIX
My overall favourite remix would be the Boemklatsch because I love the electro side to it. It keeps the original touch of Rhinestone Eyes but adds a Boemklatsch touch. Most importantly though it does it smoothly, it makes it sound like it was suppose to be together. A lot of the remixes I found were trying to shove their own style on the Gorillaz track. When you try to force something that doesn't fit it just doesn't sound good. It's almost like those little children toys that you put the square in the square hole, the circle in the circle hole, etc. I found again and again people trying to fit their square in the circle spot and it didn't work out. Boemklatsch has "put the circle in the circle hole" on this track.
Make sure you check out Gorillaz
