If you've been keeping up with us for long, you'd know of Japan's electro pop god Shinichi Osawa. His remix of the Chemical Brothers 2002 classic Star Guitar is something you'd keep in your library to show your kids when they hate you for tossing out NOW That's What I Call Music 188. He's got an album under his belt and it's been out for almost a year, but the lack of talk around his release kind of puts me down.
This is the most underrated electronic music album I've come across, and I could place it up there with Digitalism, Simian Mobile Disco, and even The Chemical Brothers . So So2 has been re-released this week on Southern Fried Records, and all I can say is that these tracks still sound way fresh even today. All 14 of them take you from the dark nightclubs of Berlin to the sonic neon lights of Japan. An astonishing variety of house grooves, electro thrash, and techno soundscapes.
(ECB244D) Southern Fried Records – Shinichi Osawa SO2 LP
The 14 tracks on this album flow beautifully into each other, so pick this one up if you've still been waiting for a good dance LP since 2007.
