With a father working as a reporter for the BBC and an older sister in modeling and acting, it may have seemed like a given that London born Jessie Ware would seek out the spotlight as well, but with every release that brings us closer to her second solo album, Tough Love, Jessie proves that she’s standing on her own musical talent.
“Say You Love Me” is both organic and soulful. Feeding into the theme of waiting for a requited love, Jessie is patient with the development of the song, starting off clean and simple and only when the timing is right, adding power; a power that you can almost sense coming from a deep inner strength. It’s incredible to hear her vocal range in this latest track as she hits parts with such clarity and intensity and then drops into almost just a whisper. The song transitions beautifully from a personal plea for love to a rhythmic and multi-vocal petition
