I'll admit it: I like my tech house to be served up with a side of hip hop. And luckily, that's what we've come to expect from house music producer Groovebox, who has made his reputation from making pointed choices about every aspect of sampling: what sample to use, where to use it, the repetitiveness of it and the warping of it are all techniques that he's honed in for himself, creating a style that's groovy and addicting. His latest is entitled "Fat Like," and features those old school hip-hop sounding vocals that we don't quite know, but are good enough to keep us coming back for one more listen. Featuring a techno remix from Hollen as well, the Fat Like EP will undoubtedly chart on Beatport following its release on Deeperfect this week.
