Electric Island is right around the corner with the inaugural event of it’s fourth season on May 23. With great success of the first three seasons it only made sense that the contributing partners (Embrace, Platform, Footwork, and more) would be looking to make this season even bigger than it already has been. We can already see the magic that’s going to happen with the addition of another day of the festival labour day weekend and a monster of an artist lineup. Enter below to win a pair of tickets and read on for a preview of what to expect.
To kick off the island festivities, the dance floor will be studded with an all star local warmup cast consisting of Brian Johnson, Jonathon Rosa, and a duo that’s been making big plays this past year Nature of Music.
Moving the day forward sees the all star DJ and Life & Death label affiliate Job Jobse take control of the decks before the labels founder DJ Tennis brings his eclectic tastes in techno to soothe the floor into the evening. Another big year is in the books for the Italian producer with big remixes of Art Department’s ‘Walls” and Sei A’s ‘Space In Your Mind’ and the recent Divisions Chirality EP on Life & Death.
Playing into the sunset will be the Hot Creations label boss Jamie Jones with his signature tech house sound filled with warm, round basslines and drum machine heavy percussions. Hot Creations continues to remain a staple in tech house DJ sets with a collection of releases that continue to top charts around the world. This past year has seen yet another big release on the label for the local Toronto hero Nathan Barato with his ‘Wobble Talk’ EP.
Closing out May long weekend sees the awaited island return of the Cocoon founder Sven Vath, or Papa Sven as some might like to call him. A long time techno veteran and a fellow lover of records, we can’t wait to hear the gems that Sven has spent years getting dusty fingers collecting.
With an all star DJ cast set for the first of the island series we can’t wait to see how the summer shapes up moving forward into the warmer months!
