Ultra Music Festival raises the bar with this year's live act offerings

Returning to its longtime home at Bayfront Park, the 22nd edition of Ultra Music Festival has cultivated a diverse musical lineup catered to different audiences: bass heads will be able to get down with artists like Whipped Cream and Sub Focus, while house/techno fans can cut shapes to the sets coming from FISHER or Amelie Lens. Besides the special b2b/b3b sets (for example, Dubfire B3B Nicole Moudaber B3B Paco Osuna, and SLANDER B2B Kayzo), Ultra Miami seems to put more focus on the live performances this year.

As one of the few festivals that have dedicated live stages, Ultra Miami has curated a live acts list with a multitude of talents from across the electronic music spectrum. Both Madeon and Gesaffelstein will be making returns to the festival after long hiatus. After 7 years, Madeon will be bringing the Good Faith Live Show to Miami. Sharing the same name with his sophomore album released last fall, the Good Faith Live Show is bound to bring a kaleidoscope of sounds and visuals. In comparison, Gesaffelstein's Vantablack VBx2 live show is set to challenge audiences' spatial perception as the monolith is covered entirely in Vantablack, the world's blackest black. Debuted at last year's Coachella, it is a feast for the eyes to look at the prince of darkness dressed in a silver reflective suit in front of infinite darkness.

And the live stage is not the only place you can find live performances. For example, on this year's Carl Cox Megastructure/RESISTANCE stage, Christopher Coe will be presenting a 100% improvised show with "a modular synth system linked to an Elektron Digitakt, Moog DFAM and running clock and clips, samples and one-shot samples and FX in Ableton." He will also program the visual part too by sending signals to his visuals artists system that triggers visual changes.

Besides showing off their musical instrument skills, Grammy-nominated duo SOFI TUKKER will also be presenting a custom instrument called a book tree, which looks like a tree with panels on it which they play to trigger samples.

Artists like Gryffin and Ookay will be bringing full bands to perform alongside them while Krewella will grace the stage with a live vocal performance. Check out the entire lineup here to learn more about the live lineup.
