The Hydra jump-starts the new year in London with Bugged Out NYE and Electric Minds NYD

Since 2012 when they first started putting together events, The Hydra have established themselves as one of the go-to organizations for world-class underground electronic music. While the main Hydra serious runs throughout Autumn, they have lined up several big events including these two back-to-back slammers that run on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at Studio Spaces.

As always, we here at EARMILK believe the music come first. This isn’t to downplay the amazing Studio Spaces venue in Wapping, of which The Hydra is now permanently based, and the selection of incredibly versatile and talented artists that The Hydra bring on time and time again is why they are quickly becoming a staple of the London music scene…and why we can’t wait to get into the mix.

Starting off with December 31st, Bugged Out will be providing the fine citizens of London with a heady mix of DJs including the likes of Julio Bashmore, Heidi, and Derrick Carter. Julio comes out with a strong bass-infused sound that he attributes to the garage scene of Bristol that he grew up in. This serves as a great contrast to what we are sure Heidi and Derrick Carter will be dropping, as Heidi stems from Windsor, Canada – directly across from Detroit – and Derrick from Chicago. You can be sure Heidi will be exhibiting her naturally fiery and passionate style when she’s on deck, as she is not one to shy away from the dancing, and the techno beat should have the rest of us following suit. Derrick Carter, on the other hand, likes to keep a low profile while maintaining his status of one of Chicago’s best house DJs to date. This does not mean you won’t hear him while it’s his time to shine, and this night should be one for the books. Other acts of the night include Marquis Hawkes, Dan Beaumont, Lemmy Ashton and Shanti Celeste.

If that wasn’t enough for you, The Hydra invites you back for round two of the New Year Series as they kick off at 11pm with Electric Minds NYD. As my grandmother always used to say, “there is no better cure for a hangover than a good all-night warehouse rave.” Bless her heart did that woman know what she was talking about.

John Talabot. Âme. Marcus Worgull. Velvit. Axel Boman. All of this and more on the same night? Sub me in coach, I want to play.  John Talabot and Âme are in the own right worth the price of admission and anyone who attended DGTL in Amsterdam earlier this year in March would agree. Âme, consisting of German duo Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, will be doing a live set and have been consistently delivering some of the best techno and tech house mixes in festivals and clubs around the world since they came on the scene in 2003.

It’s all kicking off tomorrow night at Studio Spaces E1 at 10pm.
