Los Angeles-based professional bass player Simone Feroci continues to establish his sonic presence rooted reliability, accuracy and excellence, framed by a dynamic stage presence and style. With his latest track “California Forever” a hopeful anthem laden with expansive orchestral arrangements, Feroci weaves an intimate yet resonant tale of personal victory.
Tracing his journey from alcoholism, grief, depression and substance abuse to sobriety and healing, the instrumental offering strikes a balance between ballad-esque electric bass and vivid cinematic sensibilities to offer up a thoughtful narrative. Speaking of the track, he says, "I hope this release will somewhat be a “soundtrack of hope” for those who like me, have been through the struggles of addiction, depression, grief and sorrow. It’s a testament that the light is there and once we get rid of things that hurt us, we’ll finally be able to love ourselves and carry on."
The track is elevated by accompanying visuals where the tender journey is depicted through three different versions of Feroci trying their best to heal, mixed with California aerial views and intense coping/fighting scenes.
Leading us into a groove-laden soundscape that blends precision with expression, Feroci’s versatility shines through on the track setting him up as an alluring presence in the world of bass guitar. Having started his journey playing bass for a church band at the age of 12, before playing in local punk bands, Feroci discovered his potential slowly and steadily, eventually leaving his hometown first, then Italy and later Europe, in order to pursue his music career.
Venues like Paladozza Stadium and Gran Teatro Geox in Italy, as well as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London (UK), Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles and Disneyland main stage in Anaheim (CA) have seen Simone grow into the institution of bass guitar he came to be. He also recorded with different projects at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London (UK).
