To celebrate their 15th anniversary, world renowned industry educational platform Red Bull Music Academy has collaborated with award winning director Ralf Schmerberg on a full length feature film all about the business of making music. Red Bull Music Academy is notorious for only choosing the best of the best emerging producers, vocalists, DJs, and musicians (60 total to be exact) and inviting them to participate in a series of music based workshops and festivals. The two-week program, which is annually held in a different major city each year, is an endless stream of recording sessions, lectures, and opportunities to collaborate and perform in the top clubs and music venues for the fortunate chosen ones.
So basically, you know that this new film is going to be good and is an excellent opportunity to watch and learn from the cream of the crop. Entitled What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music features the likes of Brian Eno, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, Richie Hawtin, James Murphy, and numerous other musical revolutionaries who offer thoughts about life in the industry. Shot at the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy sessions in NYC, it also follows the chosen young artists who were participating in the revolutionary music program at the time. Although there is a strong music focus the film ends up pondering life itself as well as giving an honest view of the industry itself, all set to the productions of the Berlin based artist collective Mindpirates in typical Red Bull fashion. What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music has already premiered in 60 international cities and is available for free download directly from their latest news article.
