Babes, bros, bass, and boats. That is what the scene was aboard the Hornblower Infinity last Friday for Bounce Boat’s second cruise around New York City this summer. Bounce Boat is quickly becoming the premier boat party in New York City. With picturesque views of the iconic Manhattan skyline perfectly scored by the sounds of the The Chainsmokers or Rusko while drinking and dancing with your best friends, it is without question that Bounce Boat is a must down for Yankees in the summer.
For last weeks voyage, Rusko headlined with support from heavy hitting dubstep dudes Subset and Infuze. At first the announcement of Rusko as the headliner was a little surprising seeing as his latest release was the Lift Me Up EP released on OWLSA in June 2013 and dubstep more or less has lost mainstream relevance in the dance world. No matter, Rusko took to the decks to melt the faces of 500+ enthusiastic bass addicts and left no bone unrattled in the boat. He played some of his classics like “Cockney Thug” and “Woo Boost” as well as some new material. His new tracks peaked our interest as they were a mixture of future garage and drum and bass and not much like his original sound. During his remix of “Hold On” by Subfocus he got so excited that he accidently pulled the plug on his CDJ right as the song was building. Whether he was drunk or genuinely giddy, his reaction was priceless as he adorably giggled, apologized, and cued the track back up.
This nautical night with Rusko was nothing short of spectacular and has us fending for the next Bounce Boat cruise. They just announced today that their next voyage will be on June 13th with Funtcase bringing the grimy UK sounds to the boat along side Victor Niglio and Schoolboy on the main stage. For their third excursion they will be opening the Sky Deck where The Cubeguys and Richie Santana spinning beneath the stars, which actually exist in New York City much to our surprise. Bounce Boat has a jam-packed summer planned with 15 more cruises in the works so if you are in the NYC area we highly advise getting aboard. Maybe one day they will show some love to us house and garage heads but for now we will be nostalgic as we slam dance to same gnarly dubstep. Until next time Bounce Boat!
