Downtempo producer George Evelyn aka Nightmares on Wax turns 25 this year, as does Warp, the revered label that counts his 1991 debut A Word of Science: The First and Final Chapter as one of its first releases.  To celebrate the anniversary, Evelyn has announced N.O.W is the Time, a compilation of standout tracks from his career, out June 16th.  The full track list has yet to surface, but Evelyn has given us more to drool over in the meantime; he’s announced a five month tour, his biggest ever, taking a live band through Europe as well as stopping over for an extensive visit to the U.S.  If that’s still not enough for you, the album will be exquisitely packaged as a box set, with the double album being accompanied by two vinyl LPs featuring unheard rarities and remixes.  See the full list of tour dates below, as well as links for subscribing to forthcoming N.O.W is the Time playlists.

I received my degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and Virginia is still home. Apart from my yearly pilgrimage to Moogfest and occasional shows in DC, Detroit, and New York, I like to stick to the fringes, with an eye always open toward music that is forward-thinking and unique, whatever the genre.
