In the Gary Richards empire, there may be no event that is more significant than HARD Summer. Sure, Destructo and his team still program the spooky Day Of The Dead Halloween theme as well as the lavish Holy Ship cruise ship extravaganza, but the summer edition is HARD’s opportunity to flex its muscles amongst the noise of festival season.
Since its inception, HARD has focused on talent-driven artist lineups, separated from the one-size-fits-all lineups and over-the-top production of mainstream EDM players. The crowds have followed quality, and this year HARD Summer is shaping up to be bigger than ever. Relocating to a larger venue at Whittier Narrows in downtown LA, the five stages will truly offer something for everyone. Familiar names on this year’s edition include Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, and Disclosure, not to mention a headline of the Diplo & Skrillex pet project Jack U. In the category of something different, look for A$AP Mob, a live set from Rudimental, and The M Machine break the mold of DJ set.
Solid offerings from the Future Classic crew, Dirtybird, and OWSLA round out an incredibly deep offering this year. In yesterday’s announcement, the crew of pranksters brings out the latest line of DJ gimmicks with fruit on the head. All joking aside, the HARD crew is a true family, and summer in Los Angeles is shaping up to be a fantastic reunion.
