Glastonbury announces festival postponed to 2022 due to pandemic

News of Covid-19 vaccines gave everyone a glimmer of hope that 2021 festival season would be a go, but the logistics behind administering the vaccine and the rise of a variant strain have once again put things on hold.

Glastonbury announced early this morning that the 2021 festival dates have been pushed to 2022. This will be the first time in the festival's history that there will be back-to-back fallow years.

Rumors began circling beginning of January that the festival was cancelled, after Mel B, from the Spice Girls, told BBC Radio that the festival was cancelled. Festival co-organizer Emily Eavis was quick to tweet a response, saying there was "no news this end". But this morning they pulled the plug. In a statement on their instagram page, they said, "In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the festival happen."

Following last year's cancellation policy, tickets will roll over to 2022 if ticket holders chose to keep their £50 deposit as a placeholder. Additional information and FAQ can be found here on their website.
